The Old Barn - Reviews

A great place to stay - June 2013
Beautiful accommodation, spacious bedroom and large, private bathroom in a house which is obviously a well converted barn, as it has many original beams and features. Great, helpful service without being intrusive. Wonderful breakfast which was awesome. All in all much recommended..

Still excellent - June 2013
Have stayed here before. Annex is very good and totally self contained. Breakfast very good.

Excellent - May 2013
Very friendly people the whole experience of staying at the Old Barns was enjoyable. The room was very clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Everything you needed or you had forgotten for your stay was provide for. The breakfast was 1st class.

Stay at the Old Barn - Aug 2012
What a lovely place and location! A surprise that this was not just a room, but a private lounge, double bedroom, kitchen and bathroom all very well appointed with a number of nice touches. We were left very much to ourselves and enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning brought to our seperate front door. Easily good value for money and will certainly come back.
Thanks for a great stay!

Excellent - August 2012
Excellent, friendly and efficient service

A lovely stay in excellent accommodation - August 2012
Great accommodation with all the home comforts. Every little detail was taken care of, i.e. we needed a sewing kit on the first night and found a new one in the dressing table drawer. A wonderful break

Fantastic: just what B&B should be - July 2012
We had a great time. Lovely welcome, annexe (with sitting room), bed, shower, breakfast etc. Only wish we had booked a two night stay. Why would anyone want to stay elsewhere if you want to be in that part of the country?

Barn life - June 2012
was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
Andrew and Leslie were relaxed and made us feel the same!

Adrian - May 2012
What a superb place. Very spacious and comfortable. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the manger annex on arrival was gob smacked at the at the old barn faultless lovely - January 2012

We went away for my birthday and our anniversary, the old barn is a little gem, we had a fantastic we both me and my partner work within this industry ourselves and are regular travellers and tend to find fault in a lot of the places we stay, I can honestly say we would highly recommend the old barn could not find fault in the place fantastic, rooms ****** food ****** service ****** everything about this place is right well done to Leslie and Andrew. Can't wait till our next stay, great location, great local walks, nice pub just down the road,10 min Tenterden, 25mins to the beautiful Rye, lovely beamed 300 year old barn top notch value.

Trondheim, Norway - December 2011
Very nice. Although expensive, when travelling without a car, as transportation by taxi is necessary. The cost would be ok for a full afternoon and check out at 12.00. For staying from 21.00 in the evening to 07.30 in the morning, I did not get the full experience of the Old Barn, sadly.

Lovely barn accommodation - July 2011
The Old Barn was a lovely place to stay with character features, high quality furnishings and as clean as anyone could want. Only stayed one night but would be a good base to explore neighbouring countryside. Thank you !

This is the way to run a bed and breakfast - November 2010
A very nice couple, a spotless place in a very nice setting with a lovely breakfast , would highly recommend.

Excellent B&B - July 2010
This was our fourth stay at The Old Barn, which suggests that we like it! The accommodation (in the annex) called 'The Manger' is a well equipped self contained home from home. The breakfast is excellent, and the proprietors friendly and helpful.

A comfortable place to stay near a quiet village - July 2010
A big room well set up for travellers and a hearty breakfast using local produce.

Easy internet access a plus. Very hospitable hosts. Weekend break - May 2010
Excellent flat adjacent to the main property. Very clean and well-appointed with small living room and kitchen. Some road noise from the main road but nothing to prevent a strong recommendation. A cooked breakfast delivered to the door!

Very nice for a short break in Kent or appointment at nearby Benenden Hospital - February 2010
Excellent accommodation, the Manger room having bedroom, bathroom (bath & shower), fully-fitted kitchen/diner, hallway and very comfortable lounge, all at an extremely reasonable price. Parking right outside the door. And good cooked English breakfast too. Made very welcome by Mrs Frisby. If you have an appointment at Benenden Hospital then this is an ideal overnight place, about 15 minutes drive from the hospital. Dinner at The Bull pub, couple of hundred yards away, was very nice and very generous portions.

Fantastic rural location - January 2010
What can I say, what a very nice little place. Excellent for a short visit.

Must stay - December 2009
Was in a lovely little village with a pub very close by, the couple who own the hotel are lovely and treated us very nice, the hotel was also very clean and really well decorated for a old barn

A nice place to stay - December 2009
Very welcoming, comfortable and relaxing. Leslie made us feel at home straight away and also organised a table for us at the local pub. Breakfast was great. Facilities excellent.

Staying at The Old Barn - October 2009
The accommodation was spacious and comfortable, nicely decorated and warm. The host was most obliging and cordial. Breakfast was tasty, with a good selection that was well presented.
The location was in the countryside, which suited us. A very pleasant stay.

A trip in the land of happy breaks - October 2009
The Old Barn was a nice place where to stay. Our hosts were kind and considerate. I would recommend any visitor from the Continent to stop at this location on a round-trip of the British Isles. This is the English countryside at its best.

A very civilised stay in lovely countryside - August 2009
A beautifully converted barn with several immaculate guest rooms, and a hostess who spares no detail, down to the thick towelling robe hanging in our room. This really is a B&B of top quality hotel standard.

The Old Barn is situated mid way between Tenterden and Ashford on the A28, so it's very convenient for touring the local area and many National Trust properties. There is much to do in Tenterden: Tenterden museum, unique local shops and boutiques, some fabulous Tenterden Restaurants, local wine from Chapel Down. Also, starting its journey in Tenterden is The Kent and East Sussex Railway - always a favourite of young and old. Perhaps have a meal on the vintage steam train.
