Questions that have been
asked.

- I have two huge train fans
in my family: can you tell me anything more about the
Kent & Sussex steam railway you mentioned?
Steam Trains run from
Tenterden to Northiam, on restored track, and is very
pleasant. You can get to Tenterden by bus from outside
our door. There is also a museum in Tenterden with many
Railway items.
Also there are some nice trips via the normal electric,
and smelly diesel railway; Rye, Hastings (plus a model
railway to travel on along the sea front), and the world
famous Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.
- How can I reserve my room?
You may reserve the room
using your credit card number and expiry date.
- My wife and I will be
visiting Britain in July. For the last few days there we
would like to see some of London, but the prices of
hotels scare us. This week I spoke to two farmers from
Kent who were visiting Washington State and British
Columbia. They suggested that we stay at a B&B
outside of London and go into the city by train. That
night I went on the internet and searched for B&Bs in
Kent and up came your listing. I see that you are located
three miles from the local station. We don't plan to have
a car while in Kent, although we might rent one for a day
to see around the area if that is possible. For the days
we want to go into London, is there taxi service from
your place to the station?
Regarding getting into
London. It is possible to take a taxi to our local
station and go into London, or catch the bus to Ashford,
from outside our door, and from Ashford go to:
London
Canterbury
Leeds Castle
Rye
Paris etc. plus more.
The journey to London is just over an hour, and costs
about 12 pounds with the underground.
To get to Gatwick, it is possible to get there by train
by changing at Tonbridge. Alternatively, it is possible
to get a Car/Taxi to take you at very reasonable prices.
- How do I get to The Old
Barn
London Charing Cross to
Pluckley (3 miles away) or Ashford (7 miles away). and
Victoria to Ashford. Journey time about 75 minutes. Paris
and Brussels to Ashford in about 2 hours.
Taxis and buses are available at Ashford station.
- Once there what is the
easiest way to get to places Bodiam Castle, Canterbury,
Leeds Castle, etc.?
Bodiam Castle. Difficult
by public transport. Best use a taxi.
Canterbury. By bus that will stop right outside the barn.
(About an hour)
Leeds Castle. Bus to Ashford, Train to Bearsted, then bus
to Leeds Castle. also;
Tenterden. By bus that will stop right outside the barn.
Rye. By bus that will stop right outside the barn. (About
an hour)
Sissinghurst. Difficult by public transport. Best use a
taxi.
Royal Tunbridge Wells. Bus to Ashford, Train to Royal
Tunbridge Wells.
- Please furnish me with
information regarding transport to KENT from Heathrow.
To get to Kent from
Heathrow by public transport is quite easy. Heathrow to
London Charing Cross by London Underground (1 change),
about 45 minutes. Charing Cross to our Local station
about 65 minutes. It is also possible to arrange a
private hire car to pick you up from Heathrow. A bit more
expensive.
